For many, quarantine has brought forth much needed rest, relaxation and retail therapy. One of the hottest Black-owned brands, Telfar, has been catching quite the buzz lately. Since its inception in 2005, founder Telfar Clemens has featured looks on celebrities including Solange and Swae Lee. Telfar’s slogan, “It’s not for you, it’s for everyone” is represented by its outrageous eye-catching unisex style. Check out five reasons Telfar is quickly becoming a household name.
- It’s bold. With daring colors like hot pink and chrome (pictured), Telfar’s consumers are sure to stand out anywhere they go.
2. It’s current. Social media is a major driving force with a brand’s business. Funny memes like The Boondocks’ Riley Freeman, featured in the brand, keep Telfar going viral.
3. Telfar answers to consumer demand in real time. You can always catch Telfar responding to customer queries in the comment section of Instagram posts. No limited comments here!
4.The brand isn’t afraid to get political. Being a Black-owned brand, speaking on topics which affect the Black community is key. When your brand supports you as a people, shopping is guilt-free. The above post demands justice in wake of the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

5.It’s rare. Telfar was coined “The Bushwick Birkin” in a 2020 article. Much like the Hermès bag, certain editions are never returning. This drives demand, keeping customers on their toes in anticipation of restocks. https://shop.telfar.net
