Whispers of an possible deal between Travis Scott and McDonald ‘s started swirling just over a week ago. Rumors being rumors, the “news” needed to be treated with a very big pinch of salt — but now a leaked memo released by every publication on the globe (but started via Business Insider) seems to suggest that the link-up is, in fact, real.
This seems like Scott is the first in a line-up of big stars who have been chosen to work with the fast food giant. McDonald’s U.S. chief marketing officer Morgan Flatley notes in the memo that the rapper is the “definition of big in culture.” He also added an overview of Scott’s market appeal that not only sounds a tad unsavory, but how do you do it, fellow students. “[He] will resonate and spark excitement with our youthful multicultural customers, and has a few surprises to delight our crew and ensure they are part of the excitement.”
Flately continues to wax lyrical about how Scott is a big fan of the brand’s “craveable, iconic food” (lol), but doesn’t really divulge any info pertaining to what the collaboration will contain. So, naturally, the internet is speculating.
Once rumours first emerged on Twitter, photos of future clothing followed them — staff uniforms, burger bun umbrellas, Cactus Jack shorts, and so on. Although these pieces are great, relative to Scott’s normal merch game brilliance, they sound a little meh, so if the link-up includes clothes, fingers crossed its not just the items you see above.
Another mockup came from Singapore-based 3D artist ccreatt, who whipped up a Happy Meal toy — a figurine that comes with a McD’s feed range and a face mask to keep your meal mate Covid-free. Like the merchandise, the present is certainly not real (but it’s better)—but, because most people’s attention appears to be on him making Happy Meal products, hopefully we’ll really get anything close.
Scott could even give the product packaging a job over like he did last year with Reeses Puffs popcorn, but what we ‘d truly love to see if this entire thing wasn’t just a press-bait might be McDonald’s gifting a little menu flexibility with Scott. We ‘re going to have the La Flamein Nuggets, one Sicko Burger, Cactus Fries, and, please, a Stormi Shake — and maybe a new jingle on the side?
