After watching popcorn shirts and trucker hats make a comeback, we ‘re still shaking off the shock we felt, but it seems like dubious trends continue to rise from the grave.
For example, actress Saoirse Ronan recently reminded us that denim skirts are having another major moment as she was wearing a chic button-up version while walking the weekend through West London.
It’s not like that wardrobe staple ever really went away, but how Ronan decided to style her own version — with black tights, loafers, and a leather jacket — took us back to 2010. The combination was quick, fast, and slightly preppy, and in a way, it reminded us of looks Alexa Chung and Chloë Sevigny wore a full decade ago.
Although we’ve certainly cringed at the return of trends in the ’00s and’ 10s (um, the bubble skirt, anybody?), this trusty outfit concept is both smart and cool. It’s not exactly warm but it contains enough fabrics to make it suited for the cold weather in between fall. Another advantage is that throwing together in a hurry is quick enough.
Between that throwback-inspired look and the latest Razr cellphone, we ‘re pretty sure we ‘re traveling time in 2020—and we don’t mind that one bit.
