We predicted Rae Sremmurd Tori Kelly,Max and Bea Miller, to become household names. and they are exactly that and much more. We feel the same about new up & coming rapper Naje’e, he has the authentic edge to bring his brand to the main stream arena!
Q: How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place?
A: Started when I was in 5th grade, that’s when I actually attempted to be a rapper , by trying to rhyme, watching , 106 N Park , and MTV Jams. I seen the rappers with the jewelry , the woman, the money , the big houses and all that.
Q: Who is Naje’e ? where are you from, goals, etc.
A: A lot of people get me confused, I was born in Saint Paul, I’m from MN. But I rep Chicago as well, because that’s where all my family is located , a good 85 % so it feels like home. I’m a real Civil person, I feel like my mom has a good inspiration upon my character , she always made sure everyone around was good real caring person. I care about my people and when I say my people not just black people I mean people in general. My goal with hip hop is to give people wisdom, by wisdom I mean awareness , there are so many social and economic problems in this world and it’s like people ignore the wrongness of our society. Growing up without that “golden spoon” really allowed me to value the little things in life. I really plan on one day founding a support system that provides legal opportunities for people living in low income communities , Investing in schools, creating programs where you can develop skills in many fields. I just want to be able to support my people because I know how hard is trying to make it in this society now that i’m older and have mature you really learn a lot at these stages in your life.
Q: Who were the first influences on your music and style?
A: Jadakiss and Nas, I heard Jadakiss , “Why” feat Anthony Hamilton for the first time, and that sound hit me odd for a kid to understand the message and really recognize the power of that song. Jadakiss had so much influence on me my mom bought me this game in 5th grade with Jadakiss on the front called “Get On The Mic” Karaoke game with a story mode with dreams of chasing the fame and becoming a big time rapper lol aww man. I wonder how many people really rocked with that game I still got it somewhere.
Q: In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why?
A:Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole and here is why it’s really simple they are successful and stayed true to themselves. That teaches a lot to me , and I’m sure it reaches other people out here trying to come up in this game.
Q: Which famous song or sound production, ultimately describes what you’d like Naje’e music productions to sound like?
A: Talib Kweli – Get By : , that soulful production, with that dope sample I have no idea what sample that is , that smooth flow.
Q: If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate?
A: No doubt Nas, he’s my favorite artist of all time, I respect NAS so much that working with him honestly would prove to me that I followed the right lane and I approached hipl hop correctly. Years from now if I ever do end up working with NAS, I’m looking back at this interview like man you really did it.
