Yohji Yamamoto continues to broaden his collaborating lineup (including Hublot, Adidas, and Supreme), most recently adding Lamborghini to his resume. Yamamoto has been pushing a joint partnership with the Italian luxury car brand, and we’ve just had our first look at the upcoming whip. Take a look at the gallery above for yourself.
The iconic Japanese fashion designer revealed last month the collaboration, perhaps the largest of its kind to date, and since then there has been a lot of buzz about the collaboration. Now we know that the collab will incorporate the Aventador S that was “dressed” by Yamamoto.
Yamamoto is a well-known fan of vintage cars. In the past, he has shown disinterest in the design of modern vehicles. According to the artist, the partnership would represent both the “tradition” and the “DNA” of the two brands, as the product would eventually be a “piece of art.”
The first Yohji Yamamoto x Lamborghini tease, which came out at the end of September, had a co-branded Lamborghini badge made in black and grey, while the second one had red and white stripes over a black frame. Various kanji and katakana characters have also been featured in. We know now that the original suspicions were right.
The Aventador S wrap takes the queues from the Yamamoto Fall 2020 series, borrowing from its punk red plaids, dots, and stripes.
In addition to the vehicle, Lamborghini and Yamamoto are also teaming up on an apparel collection, featuring a coat, bomber jacket, and hoodie. The released date has yet to be announced.
